Policies

Attendance/Absence

Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons. Please plan lessons and social engagements accordingly.

In the event of any student absence, please notify your teacher at least 24 hours in advance of the missed lesson. Attempts will be made to schedule make-up lessons at a time that works for both the student and teacher only when appropriate notice is given. Absences reported with less than 24 hours notice, with the exception of illnesses reported the morning of the lesson, will not be made-up.

Failure to show up for a make-up lesson will result in forfeiture of the make-up lesson.

Lesson fees are non-refundable with exception of my absence and my unavailability to make-up the lesson.

Scheduled Sessions

Music lessons will fall into three seasonal sessions as follows:

  • 20 weeks in the winter/spring (Spring Semester);
  • 6 weeks in the summer (Summer Semester featuring 60 minute lessons);
  • 16 weeks in the fall/winter (Fall Semester).

Drop-Off / Pick-Up

For students relying on their parents for transportation, prompt drop off and pick up are expected. The teacher is not responsible for students after the lesson. Parents are welcome and encouraged to wait in the waiting area at IAATM. Teachers are also not responsible for students once they leave the facility. Teachers not responsible for injuries on the school’s premises.

Illness

Students who are feverish, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, vomiting etc., should not come to lessons. As a rule of thumb, if your child was not in school that day or came home due to illness, please do not bring them to lessons.

Teachers have the right to send students home who are, in their judgment, too ill to participate in a lesson. No make-up lesson will be offered under these circumstances.

Inclement Weather

If school is canceled due to inclement weather, lessons will be canceled. Please note, if weather allows a teacher to travel to the IAATM lesson studio, they may advise the student (or parent) and offer them the choice of meeting for a lesson. It is at the sole discretion of the student (or parent) if they choose to come to their lesson under those circumstances.

Withdrawal Policy:

Please give your teacher two weeks’ notice if you decide to stop taking lessons. Note: Any remaining lessons in the month of cancellation will not be refunded. IAATM teachers reserve the right to dismiss any student due to frequent absences, disciplinary problems, overdue tuition payments and/or non-compliance with school policies.
